you should give the McCormack UDP-1 Deluxe a try (if you haven't already done so). Best redbook player I've heard in my system. For reference, my past few players were the Audio Aero Prima Ref, Rega Saturn, Electrocompaniet and Bel Canto DACs, Naim CD5 - none of which played DVDs, SACDs, or DVD-A discs, which the UDP-1 does very well.
