"Source jitter doesn't matter in the least 'bit' (ha) with a properly constructed DAC, like the $1500 Benchmark."I guess each person has a different idea of what constitutes "proper design" or "proper construction"...... (I equate "construction" to physical build quality, not electronic performance.) It's just as subjective as "tube warmth" or "PRAT".....
For example, one criterion that would disqualify any DAC to meeting my requirements for "proper design" is non-defeatable asynchronous conversion...... The Benchmark happens to possess this dubious criterion.
(If I listed all criteria that I thought were necessary for a DAC to be of "proper design", as of right now, no DAC ever conceived would meet every requirement.)
I also have to kindly disagree about the jitter immunity. I thought the Benchmark (original version) was amongst the most-jitter-sensitive DACs I've tried.
