If I can suggest a huge recommendation is to go for the EAR Acute CD player. It is slightly over your budget but certainly well worth it.
It has balanced outputs and has the wonderful Wolfson 8740 DACS. It is an Arcam CD73 unit with stunning upgrades (tube buffer stage) done by the legendary TdP.
I went from an Ayre Cx-7e to the Acute and have not looked back.
Absolutely no comparison.
This has got to be the best if not the BEST analog (closest to vinyl) CD player available today.
