Having stumbled upon a similar thread and reading all of it I wonder what lies behind the agenda of certain individuals who put down another's product with ANY substantive research or technical backup? I am not technically inclined but I can certainly follow a well thought out and written essay debunking a myth.
I am referring to the backlash against the Nova Physics Memory Player. So please those of you engineers and equipment manufacturers who do not agree with the Nova please demonstrate your technical expertise and tear their theories apart with physics rather than saying “this is not possible†etc or making statements to that effect. Shouldn’t we be investigating the whys and the hows instead?
Wouldn't all of us here would be well served if someone with the necessary technical expertise either confirm in a fair and unbiased fashion that the opponents are correct or vice versa? Any takers?
The sad part is that as members of a community advancing the state of audio enjoyment in a domestic setting more should be done to understand and support each other even as I understand that rival designers will have to compete for business. Instead we witness not a disagreement of the technology involved but an emotional jealous put-down of what could, according to some in the well-established audio press, be a real breakthrough in digital playback. I own about 7500 LPs and perhaps 60 CDs and SACDs in total and have been looking forward to something such as the Nova player to convince me that digital generated headaches listening to CDs et al are now a thing of the past.
An advancement such as this should be celebrated but now I am both confused and made to feel uncertain of this technology because of what has been said by opponents of the Nova Player.
Is it not unsettling when the opponents, themselves manufactures & designers, cannot accept a new way of re-looking a problem and solving it elegantly because it came from someone else other than them? One cannot help but wonder what lies behind their agenda?
Let's be gracious and ask pertinent questions that will help advance our understanding of technology that will enhance our appreciation of reproduced music. Whining doesn't help.
Finally, can someone please clarify if John Atkinson at Stereophile was the only noteworthy press personality who was left out in the initial review process? It appears to me that he felt slighted from being left out from his posts thus far on this forum.
