Everyone has different priorities I suppose. I haven't owned or demo'd a lot of cd players but I certainly prefer the Shigaraki to these at least: Rega Saturn, Naim CDX2, Primare CD31.
The Shigaraki has a "freshness", honesty and lack of processed feel (like sibilance and forward upper mids) that the above lack. I can't explain it other than it makes music and relaxes me. But then I also prefer my Sony Playstation 1 to the above players so maybe I'm a fringe type anyway.
A friend sent me a Paradisea and Ack Dack so I'll be comparing the Shigaraki to those this week. I'll probably post my findings here.
