A pioneer dvd plaver dv-79avi to a behringer DEQ2496 parametric EQ out to a Benchmark DAC1. DAC1 feeds amp directly and i use its volume pot for attenuation. Best sound i ever had.

I got rid of the 840c for very similar reasons- disjointed soundstage, odd emphasis of certain frequencies that other players had not demonstrated in the same room. could very well also have been out of phase. I have not looked back. Still dont know what Harley was raving about.
