I have owned an IDAT-44 for 8-10 years. I got John to update it about 4 years ago and have not felt the slightest urge to change my dac. Once I settled on a digital cable that was equal to task (Marigo Apparition), I've been very satisfied with the performance of the unit. John has suggested that I go to battery power to take it to its ultimate level. I haven't gotten there yet.
