Clicking noise heard when new, unblemished CD is played?

I recently purchased a factory-sealed copy of Junior Mance's "Junior's Blues" on OJC. The data side of the CD appears to be completely free of scratches or damage of any kind. When held on its edge, the disc appears straight and unwarped. However, it makes a strange "clicking" noise whenever I play it (all tracks). I selected a few other CDs at random from my collection and none of them exhibited this clicking noise when played.

Any idea what might be happening? Might this be an early sign of transport problems, and there's something subtle about this particular disc which is causing the transport to misbehave? Thanks for any and all replies.
