The Audio Note CD-4.1x is the best of the "one box players" and it fits easily into that price range. In fact, you could buy that player, add the Whest DAP.10, and still have plenty left over to buy lots and lots of CDs. Lots! (This is a good thing because you WILL be buying lots and lots of CDs after you purchase an Audio Note player. It's very hard to stop listening to music once you own one.)

If for some reason that were not good enough, you could explore the separate transport and level 3, 4 and 5 DACs. Level 3 is in that price range.
