Laser for TEAC VRDS 10

My Teac VRDS 10, purchased used about a year ago, keeps skipping tracks. Things seem ok for a couple of days after using a lens cleaner, but it soon reverts to its wayward ways.

Is the laser dying? If yes, what would be a good replacement laser and where could I source it on the net? FYG, am using the Teac as the transport, mated with a Benchmark DAC 1.
