The E.A.R Acute. It starts life as an Arcam and ends up as......?
It keeps the upsmapling, but adds atube output stage and bunch of other stuff. I am a little partial to Arcam in the first place and this sounded magical, but that may also have been due to all the other E.A.R products mated to it.
I like Naim CDPs and I like AN Dacs: two different sounds to be sure, but I do love them both. But unless you get the most expensive AN CDP at about $8500 a pop, you'll have to add an AN transport to get the best out of the AN Dac and by then you'll be well over $6000.
The Acute is probably hard to find. I'd upgrade the Naim. Shoot the Moon on the 555 or get the AN CD 4.1x. Or keep what you have and add a power supply if you haven't already.
I have never compared any CDP with the Acute. I heard it alone.
