Having gone from Naim amplification to tubes, the only remaining Naim component in my system is my CDX2. I considered it a stopping point as a front end -- it's $6000, for pete's sake.
But going tubes has gotten me re-considering things. Has anyone compared a CDX2 or other "mainstream" cd player implementation to something with tube output stage and/or non-oversampling? This is my lateral thought process -- can I get a more involving, less digital, more "analog" sound from a different, non-mainstream implementation?
I'm referring to players and DACS like Lector, Audio Note, Altmann, Nixon and 47 Labs Shigaraki. Thoughts?
