Anybody using E-MU 0404 usb as an external DAC?

I bought this yesterday and hooked it up as an externdal DAC. I have an old Pioneer 626 dvd player lying around and used optical to connect the two then ran mini stereo connector split into 2 rca connectors.

Out of the box, most of the cd's I played that had a glare was def. toned down. I'm picking up a little more detail but nothing jaw dropping.

I let ir run over night and will listen again this afternoon.

Has anybody else used this USB DAC for this purpose and what were your results ?
