CEC TL5100 transport - what to replace with?

My 5100 has been in repair for a few months now, and its looking grim that the motherboard processor can be fixed (cant get any replacement from CEC).

If worst comes to worst, are there any recommendations for a (hopefully superior sounding) replacement, within say the $500-$1000 mark, used is preferable (better value for $$$ :-)

Guess I could always loo for another 5100, but after the repair dramas I dont know if I want to go through this again.
