Howdy
In http://www.tascam.com/Products/cd601mkii.html it says "Sample Rate Converter for 48kHz playback" which I interpret as "if you want 48k output we'll sample rate convert for you" not as "The lit says the player resamples to 48 kHz."
Similarly the manual http://www.tascam.com/Products/cd601/CD-601MKII_E.pdf says "Synchronization with an external word clock (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz) is possible. During synchronization with an external 48 kHz clock, the CD playback signal is digitally output at a sampling frequency of 48 kHz.", "Rating: ... Sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz" and "DIGITAL OUTPUTS AES/EBU: ... Sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz (at word synchronization)" all of which I believe is consistent with a 48K upconverter available for playback.
I really doubt that it sample rate converts to 48kHz for "normal" playback...
Did you read something else?
