I A-B'd the Ayre and the FMJ CD23 along with a bunch of other players a few years ago. I bought the Ayre. I've since had the chance to hear the 23 compared to the 33 and I thought it was, at best, a lateral move. I have not compared the 33 and CX-7e directly but I would be shocked if the Ayre was not at least as transparent and somewhat more analog sounding. Ayre offers great product support too.
