Re: Am I crazy? Denon DVD-2200

Well, I just went down and purchased the DVD-2200, and no, I am not crazy. The unit performs very, very well with SACD's, DVD-A's, CD's, and even burned CD/R's. I noticed that the weight and build of the unit is MUCH better than my older Denon CD player.

Listening to the unit I noticed deeper and more naturally convincing bass, a much wider and stronger soundstage (with a strong center and a stage that extends beyond the speakers) with only slight harshness in the mids and highs. When I dimmed the display, some of the harshness went away, and when I applied cheap rubber "sticky feet" that I bought from Walmart, the harshness went away even more.

I noticed that when I touched the top of the Denon 2200 during playback, there was clearly some vibrations making their way to the unit. Will a layer of Dynamat inside the case clean up the slight harshness that I am still hearing? I know that I am being very critical of the unit, because the harshness is very slight, but I just would like to know if it will help.

All in all, an excellent purchase! I talked the store clerk down to $35 - so the whole thing was about $37 out the door!
