Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Had a look thanks

Thanks for that suggestion but the video side of the Theta is a bit behind the opposition. The Denon A1XVA (same as the 5910CI in the USA) has 10809P output.

It does seem the Denon can be modded up rather impressively. One is offered on Audiogon at
http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1180296271
But I will not be purchasing that unit - wrong power supply and I'm unsure how it would handle PAL. Anyway they only ship in the States.

The company responsible, Upgrade Company, make some interesting claims about their mods as can be seen on their site (link below). In particular they oppose the use of superclocks and claim they introduce RF nasties.

My present inclination is towards the Denon and getting it upgraded here in Australia but I welcome other ideas as I will not be moving for a few weeks yet.

The more I "educate" myself about audio from digital sources the more I realise how complex it all is and see why digital can sound so nasty if not processed properly.

John

Do not criticise the idiots in this world - we need them as they make the rest of us look so much better :-)
