Sony DVP-S7700 worth fixing?

My old 7700 in the office system finally died. No matter what you put in it, there is no sound. It sets there for a few seconds and then the display says No Disc. I took it apart, which ain't too much fun, and cleaned the lens, but that didn't help.
Should I just sell the thing for parts on eBay? It was a highly recommended transport in it's day. Also, who makes (new or used) something that is listenable and not too much of a step down in the $100.00 range. This is just for a second system.
