Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

here's what I do

I have both an Altmann Attraction dac and a 5-year-old boy (and a curious cat) and I can tell you to a certainty that the boy is vastly more curious, experimental, creative, and destructive than the cat. So I took steps. I have the dac and an Optima Yellow Top battery on their own shelf of a multi-shelf rack, both sitting at the back of the rack. The battery comes with a plastic cover for protection during shipping, and I always have that sitting on the top of the battery covering the posts (it's loose, but you can't see anything interesting under it). In front of the battery and the dac I have a line of boring looking grown-up books (the house is full of books, and so this doesn't look out of the ordinary). There are other bookshelves to either side of the rack, so there's no access to the dac/battery from the sides. When I want to switch on or off the dac, I pull out several books, reach way back, and flip the switch, then return the books to their position. I never do this when my son is present. (It's a pain, and I sometimes feel like I'm in an old mystery movie when I do it, but it's pretty effective at keeping the dac/battery hidden). Because of the position of the dac & battery, not much dust gets to them. And, although the dac/battery aren't exactly "secured," I haven't experienced an indication suggesting I should take more drastic steps. Famous last words, I suppose. BTW, the dac is fantastic. And the battery source isn't too much trouble: I listen quite a bit (several hours/day, many more on weekends), and charge the battery about every couple months at most. Hope this helps.
