I'd also consider the transport/player made by Softone since they're one of the few places I'd wager still used genuine Philips transports as opposed to cheaper clones.
I'd also consider a CEC as they're likely to be around for a while and they make their own stuff. Lessloss Audio Devices [scroll down the page], an unusual Lithuanian ultra-fi outfit, also rate the CEC TL51X as a fine and underhyped/reasonably priced design.
