It sounds like based on what I was thinking, and what Devilears is saying that the TV doesn't have a built in ADC...then if the cable signal is not digital, you are out of luck unless you get some sort of cable box that you can connect to the receiver.

A DVD player will help you get sound for movies, but not for TV...the only device that you seem to have that tunes in these signals, is the TV itself, and it doesn't appear to put out anything but a pure digital signal.

If you had a cable box, you could just connect its audio to the RCA and be done with it...

RF modulator won't help.

Does the radio work?
