OK, I know you said you'd prefer to buy new but for around $2,000 you could get a cracking used TEAC player with a VRDS mechanism which would add the depth and gravitas to your Bel Canto that you're probably missing now.If you want new because you think it'll be more reliable and 'better' think again, as I gather TEAC are able to service all their transport mechanisms and they're built to last.
Think about something like a used TEAC VRDS 10SE, VRDS 20, VRDS 25 etc which would leave you plenty of cash to get the clock upgraded with something like a Trichord Clock 4, the matching never connected power supply and other mods for a no compromise transport.
Plenty of TEACs floating about out there - I bought a mint VRDS 10SE for £250 in the UK, and even without any mods the quality of the transport was easy to hear.
I owned the Bel Canto for a few years and it does respond to better transports no matter what the literature suggests.
