I think you need to seriously audition Wadia, or better live with it for a while, before going this way because for all it's amazing hi-end qualities there are some discerning audiophiles who simply can not stand the house sound. (I still remember an article from a guy who most certainly knows a thing or four about the highest-end, it was called "Morons Who Listen To Wadia" - an extreme view, but he is certainly not alone.)
The other guy here mentioned Resolution Audio - funny enough I once bought a modded RA from a guy who preferred it to 861. IMO Opus is indeed a wonderful CDP, but no, it is not a 681 killer.
