which i bought after auditioning a mark Levinson 39. I needed a digital input and the volume control for use w/o pre-amp and this fit the bill for me. You couldn't do any harm trying to audition one. Many reviewers rate is very highly and only a few have faulted it in any substantial fashion. I have had mine for a year and am not looking for any replacement. I auditioned also the Siltech sq 110 G5 IC's and while they were dead quiet i found the Nordost Tyr provided a larger sound-stage i see you seek. With more air around the notes it is a very nice product which was beyond the price range I set for myself so i returned them. You might try those if you can get a pair on loan.
