Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Lynx and RME cards.

Christine:

Most lynx and RME cards can be slaved to an external clock source.

If you have a good DAC with a wordclock output, you can run in synchronous mode.

Honestly, I do not know why folks spend $1000 on a soundcard and then run clocked SPDIF to a $3000 DAC. It just does not make sense to me. Clocked consumer spdif with an ASRC's is only going to get one so far IMHO. Even when using the Lynx 2B for analog outputs, I think you can slave the card and use an external clock source. Few seem to bewail this setup. If it were me, and if I owned the Lynx, I would be DYING to try an external clock source that was battery powered instead of using a PC GENERATED clock. Yick! :^D

What are your thoughts on having a master clock in the DAC and slaving the transport / soundcard to it?

Cheers,
Presto
