You may find this useful. Its my inhome roundup of the: Cambridge Audio Azur 640c, Arcam 73T, Roksan Kandy mkIII, Cary 308, Creek CD50mkI -- all of which while I was testing while using a NAD C350.http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=digital&n=85793
The point? The NAD C350 is a great little amp, BUT the Pre-amp section isn't so hot. Search the forums I'm not alone on this. A lot of people have replaced theirs with Bottlehead Foreplay Tube Pre-Amps. I replaced mine with an FT Audio Little Wonder Passive Pre-Amp.
When I was auditioning all these CD players in my home it was very difficult to hear a difference between them with just the standard Pre section of the C350; it was masking the differences. With the new pre-amp in the system and it was very easy for everyone to hear the differences between them. Hearing the differences is easy... determining what is "better" is hard.
Either way. I wouldn't sell your amp short, and you certainly won't be making the most of your CD player upgrade if you don't address your pre-section first, or simultaneously with your CD player upgrade.
