DAC or new CDP: Currently Rega Planet 2k

I am in the process of upgrading my sources, I would like the best sound for the least amount of money, of course, dont we all. I currently have a Rega Planet 2k which I can continue to use as my source, or I can use a Pioneer dv525 OR a sony DVD/SACD player. I am looking to up grade for under $1000 by either adding a DAC or by changing out the CDP entirely.

Things I am considering:
Benchmark DAC $975
Arcam FMJ 23 ($1000 used)
Scott Nixon Tubedac+ ($500)
ACK Dac ($750)
Doing nothing at all ($0)

I am looking to make the CDP sound better, better soundstage, retain listenability, good PRAT. I am not dedicated to making the upgrade, I dont want to just change to something "different" I would like to make an improvement in the overall sound. Perhaps that is impossible for under $1000, and I should just stick with the Rega Planet 2k.
