Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

I confess, I really do like most HDCD discs.

There are actually quite a few releases with HDCD encoding, although tons of 'em aren't marked as such. There's a website somewhere (I've forgotten the name and url) that lists HDCD releases and there are a surprisingl number.

I didn't really care about HDCD until I got my first Cary player with HDCD decoding. I've quite enjoyed HDCD discs on my Cary 303/100 and 303/200, especially on recordings of acoustic music. The extra realism was appreciated. I now have 2 players with HDCD capability.

As much as I've enjoyed my HDCD recordings, I don't know that its inclusion (or not) would be the ultimate deal breaker for me. I'm in the upgrade market myself, so we shall see.

I would caution you to be quite sure you like a new player's non-HDCD performance as much as your Jolida's before pulling the trigger on a different player. HDCD capability is quite nice to have, but it isn't worth taking a step back in other parameters just to get it.
