Tosh 3960 worth keeping based on date?

I like the first one I got, good for a second system or backup. It is a 12/04 build from BestBuy. But I found one at Sears last week (bought it) that was April 2004, before the so-called magic date of June 2004.
Is this any different sonically than my 12/04 player if left unmodded? I don't know if I will ever use it (still in packaging, but only box opened to view date so easily returned) as the other one is still ok.
I know, small change, but curious.
