Re: Audio Note DAC -- DR.Cope

RGA, You can use any RCA cable as your "digital" cable between the transport and DAC. Obviously the better the cable the better the sound (in most cases). The transport will also effect the sound and some single-box CD players have poorly designed digital outs.

In my view the AN DACs are oustanding. There are CD players/DACs that are more dynamic or more transparent, but the AN DACs have an overall musicality that is fluid and very natural sounding. Many CD players sound "digital" to my ears, but the AN DAC is smooth and fine. I think the DACs are one of Audio Note's strongest product lines, and that's saying something.

They are expensive but there have been some very favorable comments about the new 1.x DACs. There are other brands out there that follow the same design concept (filterless zero sampling), but I've not heard any of these except for the Wavelength Audio Cosine which I use in my headphone system. (I prefer the AN DAC in my main system and the WA DAC in my headphone system because it's a bit more laid back.)
