Meridian 507 used for $1300 or...?

I need to upgrade / replace my cdp. A store near by has a used Meridian 507 for sale for $1300, freshly returned from Meridian repairs with all its boards replaced and all its software updated. The question is, I've seen some mixed reviews of the 507 -- I'm wondering how it compares to other options at *this* price rather than its full retail. Also, any thoughts on cdp options closer to $500 to $750 (Rotel, Adcom...)? Would the extra money for the Meridian be worth it over those options? Thanks so much for the help.
