Just check out my manual and it says that the analogue stages are still on when the CD3 is under standby mode. Makes for a better sound.The CD3 uses 26 Watts of power during standby so I now know roughly the amount of waste heat generated. It's about right.
I think a small fan beneath the player (attached to the table not the player) blowing only while the player is on standby is a good solution. When using the player, the fan is off.
My next DIY project...!
