Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Out of touch- Appreciate some input

I was in London for the past 6 years, living in a flat and as a result, really didn't keep up with digital developments. I have a Classe CDT-1 transport and DAC-1 converter (you can see my current setup in Inmates). I happen to like the sound in my system which has been through a couple of incarnations since I bought the Classe units in 1998.

I'm not into SACD and have about 2,000+ regular CD's. FWIW, I have double that number in LP's but in the end, I'm not wedded to either format.

I listen to rock, jazz, folk, and classical.

People talk up the Sim Audio and Ayre products as well as Musical Fidelity. The dcs stuff also looks interesting as does the ARC CD3.

I'm not buying new, probably EBay or AudioGon for sourcing.

Player or separate transport and DAC?

In either case, what are you using, what do you listen to (including system) and why do you like (or dislike) the unit? Opinions from auditions in shops are interesting but don't tell me as much about what you have bought and why.

Thanks in advance.
