Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Panasonic S47

Years back I bought a Panny RV-32 DVD for around $109. Nice picture but, I wasn't pleased with the Redbook Audio(it claimed to use the 24bit-192khz BB dac). Hopefully the S47 is much better.

If you're going to use an external DAC, then having a bit perfect transport would be very beneficial for audio. If you're using analog outs, I think your ears would be the most important deciding factor.
Find places that offer no-hassle return policies.

I use a modded Tosh 3950, but, love the combination of great sound and ability to play with modding. I thought the Harman Kardon DVD-22 (under $200) sounded excellent with Redbook. I recommend you compare the audio of the HK DVD-22 to your other candidate(s).

Regards,
Ed
