Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

I'm sorry you are so easily offended

You are the one who made a big point about your wire's cost and rarity. I was just using your terminology to identify your particular wire.

I guess you didn't like my suggestion to experiment with inexpensive silver wire and determine which configuration sounds best to you in your system but want someone to tell you what is best. OK, but I don't see how my preferences will help you. I don't like silver; but you want to use silver wire. I don't like shields; but you may be in a high-EMI environment where using an unshielded ICs is not an option.

For ICs, I currently use 33 awg copper litz wire suspended in a matrix of 15 awg Teflon tubes platted in a 4-part square sinnet, terminated with Eichmann bullet plugs. I arrived at that configuration after trying all the common DIY recipes and then experimenting with more than 20 of my own designs.

I don’t understand the audio forum mentality. Everybody wants to do DIY but nobody wants to Do It For Themselves. Instead they want someone else to do the work and then tell them what will work best for them in their system. A common forum question is: “Which is better, connecting the speaker cable to the woofer and then jumper to the tweeter or connecting the speaker cable to the tweeter and then jumper to the woofer?” The funny thing is, that question invariably gets numerous replies with each respondent expressing, with absolute certainty, that their preferred wiring method is the “correct” one. I guess Internet audiophiles are afraid to trust their ears and they seek comfort in following the herd. What if they listen and make the wrong choice (as determined by the herd)? What if they listen and don’t hear a difference (when the herd says they should)?

To answer your initial question: Which in your opinion is the better method of constucting an IC and why you think so?

The better method of constructing an IC is the method that results in the best sound for you in your system.

Why I think so is that it results in the best sound for you in your system.
