for the Cat5 Speaker Cable

for a beginner like me who hunger for better sound but do not want to spend too much money on system accessories because of inexperience and the high price of such accessories. what's better than using cheap cat 5 network cable to make a hi-end 'diy' speakers cable with good sound quality at low price?

my system marantz 'av-9000' preamp and 'mm-9000' poweramp are connected with a 'diy' mit '330' audio cable. with a toshiba dvd player connecting by an unknown optical cable to this simple system, i use proac 'tabulette iii' and a very cheap pair of speakers cable for sound reproduction.

i've brough a belten 1000-feets-box cat 5 cable at usd 65 and done two pairs of speakers cable with 27 twisted pair each side (recommand by chris). one pair of them is braided as recommand but the other pair has kept the the original grey cover (i just simply braid six 'original' cables together).

i played those cds of jazz (louis armstrong), violin (five fox o'clock) and drums (a japanese's record) and hving a 'a-b-a' comparison of the fully braided pair with my previous speakers cable, the different is obvious. terrble is more clear, bass is stronger, the sound stage is wider, the sound has a better balance and music is more sweet.

but under the limits of my experience and the sensitivity of my ears, i can't tell there's a clear difference between a fully braided pair and a uni-braided pair (with original cover). i can only say the terrble of the fully braided pair is slightly better than the covered pair.

chris, if you've tried the above comparison, would you like to give some comment on it.
thanks for yr sharing anyway.
