Power cords and current demands

18 gauge is WAY too small for ANY reasonably sized power amp. Take a decent 12 or 14 gauge extension cord and cut it to the length desired. Put an IEC connector on one end and a good quality power plug on the other. You should notice improvements in bass attack, sustain and definition. Treble should be slightly sharper with less smearing.

The benefits would be more evident at volume, as the amp wouldn't be choked nearly as much at low levels. This "tweak" can be measured and verified on a bench. Any further benefits by changing power cords is strictly subjective and would be completely system dependant ( electrical AND audio ). Sean
