I certainly am no patent expert either, but I thought there was a one-year period for applying for a patent after the idea is first made commercially available by the person applying for the patent. If Kimber had been selling cables using this design for more than a year before they applied for the patent, I would think it might be invalid.I don't think they were. But it really doesn't matter. The four conductor braid they received their patent for has been commercially available from Magnetic Shield Corporation for over 40 years.
