I am presently listening to the AG-1 cables on my Dunlavy SC-IVs driven by Accuphase DP-75 cdp, and an Accuphase E-406 integrated amp. Both the amp and the cable are new to my system, but both were purchsed slightly used. I have already tried some of my old cables on the amp, but have been evaluating the Goertz cables for about four days. I find that so far what I hear is similar to Phil's observations. Bad recordings are exposed for their limitations, but a really good recording will make you forget the system and concentrate on the musical performance. I also feel that the soundstage is huge, but in my system the depth seems to be substantial. I find that sound is as smooth as silk. Highs seem to have no ceiling.....bass is accurate and varies from recording to recording. You get what is on the recording. The Accuphase amp is very tube like and has a terrific mid range. The cables highlight this feature so well that I'm seriously considering setting up my displaced tube gear in another room with these cables instead of selling them. My home is beginning to resemble a high end audio salon. :) I'd like to try the interconnects also, and may well order a pair soon. I have tried a few different interconnects between the CDP and amp. I had Wireworld Silver Eclipses, but found them to be bright and not a good match with the AGs.To tone down ,I substituted Wireworld Eclipses, Transparent Balanced, and finally settled for the time being on MIT MI-330 Tube Terminators. Although these cables are meant for tube gear, I always liked them with the CDP. I look forward to inserting a pair of Goertz interconnects now that I've got the Alpha-core bug. ;^)
