Chris, I consider the Opal to be a hifi best buy. It is neutral, with excellent soundstaging. The other long interconnect I own is the Nordost Blue Heaven which I used for comparision. I have Siltech and Illuminations D-60 between CD and DAC, and use the above mentioned between Quicksilver Tube Line stage and Quicksilver Silver Mono amps. With your DIY silver interconnect everything, I mean everything improved. More definition, greater detail at all frequencies. Everything seems more right. The Opal sounds compressed and the Blue Heaven sounds thin compared to the Vernhaus Silver cables. Do yourself a favor and build these cables.
