RE: 5 Pin Din cable - low volume / convert to RCA

First, as the other two posters have advised check on the phono input. Won't matter what you do with the cable if the phono input or stage is absent. I'm not familiar with your JVC - I guess it has a DIN input that you plugged the turntable into? If so, are you sure it's a phono input and not just a line-level input (for CD players, tape decks, etc)?

Foe the cable, the best thing sonically would be to cut the DIN connector off the turntable's cable and replace with some decent quality RCA's. But there are plenty of inexpensive adapters too...
