I made these cables recently. I was using Kimber 4PRs before, which I realized were not doing justice to my (admittedly modest) system. I knew I had to upgrade. Owing to room geometry and furniture placement (have a toddler running around the room) I have both speakers on the same side of the amp, so I need at least 12 feet of speaker cable. A decent cable this long gets quite expensive, so I decided to make Jon's cables. I also made
4 interconnects at the same time.Of course, these cables are way better than Kimber 4PRs. I would describe the sound as very smooth. Gentle sounds (e.g., a quiet woodwind in the midst of a symphony) float beautifully in the air. SOundstage is great and was much improved by using a Jon Risch AC line filter (see my review of that too).
Making the cables was quite easy. My biggest time expense was wading through the relevant posts on this forum. So I decided to summarize the wisdom I gleaned from these posts into a web page. I hope it will be helpful to other DIY-ers:

Although I have not sampled the cables in the $300 range that are said to compete with this cable, I must say that this is a very satisfying cable.
I must say that the cable is not too inflexible (not much more than the Kimber) and making it was easier than I expected. The only painstaking part was the "combing and dressing" of the braid.
