Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

Major Disappointment

Around 1998, XLO came out with "Series 2" designations for both the Reference and Signature lines. The interconnects were major disappointments. Both the Ref2 and Sig2 interconnects sounded just like any other run-of-the-mill warm, undifferentiated, and inoffensive Stereotypical Audiophile product. And who needs that?

As a result, XLO tanked, and really, have never recovered.

I'm in Hawaii, as I finger this on my iPhone. Since I can't really type, ...as always, go to my homepage, and look/search for my posts regarding the XLO Ref2. Both the interconnect (XLR and RCA) and speaker cable were disappointing [though the Ref2 Type 5 is not as colored as the matching Ref2 interconnects].

Yes, we properly burn in ALL cables on the audiodharma Cable Cooker. No, the Cooker cannot magically turn a fundamentally subpar cable (such as XLO's Ref2s) into something it is not.

The current-production Ref3 products are improvements over the Ref2. However, the Ref3, from a marketing perspective, seems to be a case of "too little, too late."

The Sig3 series interconnects and speaker cables (especially the latter), are excellent.

Avoid the old XLO Ref2 series at all costs. Instead, search for used (a) the originals, or (b) Series 3 products. And make absolutely sure you have acquired the genuine XLO products. Many fakes from Asia have flooded the market.
