When I was in retail, Nordost was our main line of cable and my favorite by far. I became well acquainted with the original Heimdall and felt it was the "sweet spot" of the line.
I now own Heimdall 2. It's better in every parameter, particularly in being a bit more naturally warm and rich than the original.
If your reluctance to pony up for version 2 is philosophical, get over it and spend the money. If your reluctance is due to a strict budget, buy the used version 1 with confidence. It is still excellent cable and a distinct improvement over the already fine Blue Heaven. You'll get more of what you like and some of what you didn't know you were missing.
