for several months I ran a couple different, cheap, ugly (but GOOD!) Rawson gainclone
amps that cost maybe 10% of what the cabling connected to them cost. It's pretty easy
to get over the price differential if the sound is there.
I'm not talking big money, but the budget proportions were real.
When it gets down to it its all about system synergy and we are are somewhat programmed to think cables
should cost less than any other component of a system. That's not necessarily true.
So, as someone on a budget, the anti-pragmatic approach to cost differentials between various
components and any sort of budgeting strategies were thrown out the window and I
learned to stomach what many might think of as ridiculous, stupid or silly to achieve the
sound I want to get.
IF you can get the scratch together and your ears tell you it's right, go for it!
