Speaker cable termination question

I use Mogami 3104, biwired with bare ends. In order for the positive and negative to be thin enough to take hold of the binding post, I had to prune about a third of the strands of each leg, in order to make one + or - leg. Is this a huge problem creating resistance? I don't seem to have a problem , but that doesn't mean it's not there.

How important is keeping the the strand count at the termination in regard to sound quality and what, if any are the sonic compromises that occur?
Thanks!
