incidentally you can purchase silicon in various viscosities at any RC model store. They use it for model car suspensions.
Many feel that an air/silisone mixture works better than completely silicon filled design. Look at Bilstein shocks for example. There was a guy on the east coast: Ivor Kuzneskoff (spelling) that marketed suspension systems using silicone and air for components
