I use both a Brick Wall in one system and a HTS-2000 in the other. The BW will perform some filtering and conditioning duties as well as protect the system from a major zap (and you will not need to toss it due to bad MOVs).
I can't compare sound differences because I am one of the lucky folks that have minimal noise from the line.
I can hear no differences between the BW and my power amp plugged into the wall, however I did note some compression artifacts when using the Monster and therefore the amp is plugged directly into the wall (someday I will replace the Monster with another BW).
Of course, your mileage may vary.
Good Luck and HappyListening!
