That would actually work well - if you have the patience and dexterity to accomplish it neatly :-)

Cotton isn't a good insulator but it does a good job of damping the wire and it would provide some distance from Teflon which I don't believe to be a good dielectric although it is easy to work with. Others may disagree of course but this is my humble opinion.
